Cooking rabbit in Rome

It was a rainy day so we did 3 loads of laundry getting ready for our cruise.... And I cooked. David took me to his grocery for ingredients....and I made country style rabbit. Hal cut it up and it came with whole head including eyes and teeth. We did not use that part...even if it is Halloween! Had potatoes and mushrooms with chocolate cookies for dessert.

Today we learned to turn on the heat. Tomorrow is a holiday for Leslie....All Saints Day.... Our last day in Rome. Jin and Simon were to join us tomorrow but plane got cancelled until Monday because of huge storm Sandy in NYC.

Montepulciano, Tuscany

We spent 3 hours in Montepulciano, Italy high on a narrow ridge of volcanic rock looking down on fabulous Tuscan landscape below. We saw snow on the hill tops near Elisabetta's so we were glad to be driving south. Tomorrow will be our last day in this beautiful scenery, then back to Rome to Leslie and Vatican tour.

Pienza

Today was great, but the light ended too soon after the first town, so we got a hotel in Pienza with a deep discount since it is off season. E70 and it even has a hot tub! David is missing Leslie, but taking advantage of the scenery, cheese, wine and jacuzzi. Life is good.

Elisabetta fell down on the marble steps early morning and spent the day at the ER... Nothing broken but hurting in back and head.

Picked up David's bib number for Lucca marathon 124. We had wonderful pasta lunch and dinner to carb up. Gnocchi in smoked trout sauce and pesto on a new kind of pasta for me.

Jacopo showed us Pisa in horrible rain...off and on. Tomorrow morning early is the big day!

A day EN the city

Blue Angels, de Young museum, SF ballet with 2 free drinks,( I got a 15 month membership & take a guest.) Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park, urban hike down Clement with dinner at "Drunken Sushi" and used bus system with Clipper card. We got SF library cards that let us download books from anyplace! 9 hours out exploring.... Tomorrow America's cup and Blue Angel show with fleet week at Fisherman's Wharf.
