Beaune, France

Beaune is the center of Burgundy wine trade.....a cute wine focused village halfway between Macon and Paris . Flemish culture was part of the Burgundy kingdom. We toured a hospital created for poor people centuries ago, then had lunch in the park.

We have had serious chest colds...but seem to be getting past it as we arrive in Paris tonight.

Life is good.

Arles, France

Roman amphitheater still used for bull contests...pulling ribbons off the foreheads of bulls. Van Gogh painted many of this famous paintings here.....he was excited about the yellow colors in the sun.....only today it rained on us.

Camarque Delta...bulls horses and birds

We have a porthole at duck level.

We took a tour to ranch where traditional cowboys raise wild bulls to be used in ribbon pulling contests. Crowds follow favorite bulls who can compete for 10 years while men try to cut ribbons off the bulls forehead while being chased to a fence that e men and sometimes bull jumps over.

The horse are born black or brown and turn white at about 5 years. This hearty horse never goes inside or is shoed. They are not afraid of the bulls.

Flower and vegetable market in Nice

We walked through the market this morning . Got cheese, baguette , olives and sat along the Mediterranean on a bench having a lunch before we leave for Provence this afternoon. Baguettes always make me think of Nancy.

Thinking of the Fisher family leaving on their trip to Hawaii cruise.
